A Note to Researchers
The history of Mineral County involves numerous fires and floods.  Many of these disasters destroyed vital records and newspapers.  Genealogical research entails creative problem solving and persistence.  This web page is an attempt to provide databases from primary sources which are not readily available to the casual researcher.  When using the material on this page, please realize that the newspaper extractions of marriages, births, deaths, and divorces may be the only records you will find of these events.  This page will be updated frequently in the summer of 2001, so please check back often.
The history of Mineral County, although brief, is intertwined with its parent counties, HInsdale County, Rio Grande County, and Saguache County.  Many of the residents of early day Creede arrived there from neighboring counties.  If you do not discover what you are searching  for, it may be worth your while to visit the adjacent county sites.  Good luck!
